- Version 1.55
- 32-bit
-
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- I. Information
-
- First off I would like to thank you for using
- this copy of RedEdit. Before I go into any of
- the technical stuff behind this program I would
- like to take this opportunity to give you some
- backgroud on how this program came into being.
-
- Well one afternoon after getting ourselves a
- copy of rules.ini, my brother Brian and I decided
- that editing the file was too tedious, so we
- just sat down and started working on the RedEdit
- interface.
-
- About four long days and 3 late nights we were
- finished with our original beta version. After
- working though countless stack overflow errors
- we sat down and beheld what we had created, just
- thinking god we are done, no more programming for
- now. That is the story of how this editor was
- written.
-
-
- Ia. Distribution Information
-
- Please feel free to distribute this program
- amongst your friends. If you place it on a
- homepage please be sure to give my brother and
- I the proper credit, and do not alter any files
- contained in the archive, We will not be
- responsible for any damages incurred by improper
- hacking of this game. It will be greatly
- appreciated.

- III. Installation
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- To install RedEdit v 1.55 (32-bit) all you must do
- is run the Install.exe after unzipping the
- RedEdt32.zip and just follow the prompts as they
- come up. The installation program will ask you
- for your Red Alert directory so it can placed
- in the proper location. After that either pick
- to run the game now or later. That is it, the
- program should run correctly after that.
-
-
- IV. Usage
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- To run the program after installation or at a
- later date all you have to do is go to the rededit
- directory in your redalert directory and select
- rededit.exe. This will run the program, then all
- you have to do is choose what you want to edit
- by depressing the corresponding buttons.
-
- The backup/restore options that have been added
- allow the game you to backup your custom ini files
- before you restore your original file.
-
- **NOTE** Any changes you make will need to be
- undone before you can play multiplayer
- due to the fact that your rules.ini will
- not match your opponents. Make sure
- to use the restore original option to
- fix your changes.
-
- **NOTE** The only .exe you should run is the
- rededit.exe, running the other .exes
- can lead to problems with your rules.ini
- files.
-
-
- V. Requirements
- --------------------------------------------------------
-
- RedEdit v 1.55 (32-bit) requires Windows 95 for
- proper execution. If you have Windows 3.x be
- sure to download rededt16.zip from my homepage
- for the 16-bit version written for Windows 3.x
-
